1. Maltese family need to fill the application form. (can be send by fax or e-mail)

2. The Department for Social Welfare Standards of the Ministry for the family and social Solidarity of the Republic of Malta will carry out the family visit. Certificates from Police and two references about reliability of the family and the medical certificates about health condition of the family members to be submitted to the Department so there will be no objections for the family to invite the child from Russia for definite period to Malta.

3. Orphan children do not have any support; they are short of food and clothing. To bring them to Malta hosting families have to sponsor expenses connected with child traveling. (ICS does not have any moneys and all social workers are volunteers). The package to cover traveling expenses of orphan child is 600 Euro per child. It includes: train/bus (from 7 to 24 hours by train from orphan home to Moscow and back) and return air tickets to Malta for child and group leader, who brings children to Malta and to take them back to Russia, group leaders expenses in Malta (accommodation), Expenses in Russia: Necessary notary stamped documents and permits; Foreign passport for travel, medical certificates, etc.

This is a life time holiday for an orphan child! Orphan children need to be taken out and shown places. Try to dedicate him/her as much time as possible .They need love, affection and care. Give the child a real "DREAM HOLIDAY"!

1.1 At the age of 7 - 12 the child understands that he/she is alone and abandoned in this world. They all dream to have a family and pronounce words Mother and Father! Give them that chance, let them call you same as your own children.

1.2 These children have a very small chance of being adopted; they will trust that your family is the only family they have. At first they will not understand you, that is where the basic communication words will help! After 2 weeks, they will start to speak English and Maltese, as they wish very much to communicate with you. Try to help them to start speaking. May be you will show them some things and tell them how they named. After they start speaking they ask 100 questions about you in order to prove when they go back to Russia that they have a true family in Malta!

1.3 "DREAM HOLIDAY" Diary will the best present which you can prepare for your Russian orphan child! It will be his treasure and proof that he is a "HOME CHILD", that he has family in Malta! They will show the diary to their friends and eventually to their children and grandchildren. Do not worrry that you will write in English - after child will return he will translate it to Russian language!

TO DO SUCH DIARY: Just take any copy book or album and do it like a Diary: each day you can write where you went with orphan child , what you have done.

Place the child's photo together with your family photo on the front page and write all names with your full address and phone number.

Try to do it on day-to-day basis, leave space for taken photos and the text written under the photos.

Cards and posters from any place you will be visiting will make the diary even better!

Take promotional material in the cafes restaurants etc.

You can collect material about Malta free of charge from MTA offices in Valletta (in front of McDonalds) Republic Street.

Dear Hosting Family!

This is Hosting Guide, which I did throughout 10 years, during which I am doing my voluntary work and trying to make life of orphan children better!

Here you might find answers to some questions and it might make hosting of orphan child more ease and pleasant for you family!

I tried to put answers to questions, which I was receiving thought these years by telephone calls and throe family questioners. I will be grateful to your family if you can also contribute from your part.

All you're advises and suggestions will be very much appreciated. Any of you will be very welcomed to be a ICS volunteer, so that with your help we will be able to make more orphan children happy!

Can you help?

ICS is a voluntary organization. All the work is carried out by volunteers freely and in their own time. At ICS we are constantly looking for more volunteers who may wish to help organize activities, make phone calls and assist with the administration of the charity. The search for new Host Families

There are very many Russian orphans waiting, hoping and dreaming of the day when they will be invited to Malta for a 'Dream Holiday'. As a Hosting family you are ideally placed to tell everyone that ICS needs more families to act as hosts! Tell your family and friends, your work colleagues and neighbours. Talk to you Parish Priest who could possibly make an appeal during mass. ICS appreciates positive exposure of the need for more Host families. Sometimes ICS may ask families to take part in TV programmes and tell of their wonderful experiences as Hosts. These programmes have been very successful in finding new families. Why not make copies of the blank application form from the Welcome file and pass it on to those who show a genuine interest in hosting.
